Edo State Internal Revenue Service Launches Taxpayer Education Campaign

The Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) has launched a new taxpayer education campaign aimed at increasing awareness and understanding of tax laws and obligations among individuals and businesses in the state. The campaign, which is part of the EIRS’s efforts to promote voluntary compliance and enhance revenue generation, will include a series of workshops, seminars, and outreach programs across the state.

According to Mrs. Angela Obaseki, the Executive Chairman of the EIRS, the campaign is designed to empower taxpayers with the knowledge and tools they need to meet their tax obligations effectively. “Our goal is to ensure that every taxpayer in Edo State understands their rights and responsibilities under the law,” Mrs. Obaseki said. “By educating taxpayers about their tax obligations, we can foster a culture of voluntary compliance and reduce the need for enforcement actions.”

The taxpayer education campaign will cover a wide range of topics, including the importance of keeping accurate records, how to file tax returns correctly, and the consequences of non-compliance. The EIRS will also provide information on available tax incentives and relief programs to encourage compliance and support economic growth in the state.

As part of the campaign, the EIRS will be conducting outreach programs in partnership with local community organizations, schools, and businesses to reach a wider audience. Tax experts and professionals will be on hand to provide guidance and answer questions from taxpayers.

“We are committed to making the tax compliance process as simple and transparent as possible,” Mrs. Obaseki added. “Through this campaign, we hope to empower taxpayers to fulfill their obligations and contribute to the development of Edo State.”

Taxpayers interested in participating in the taxpayer education campaign can visit the EIRS website or contact their local tax office for more information.
